From our recent move to the new showroom, we have been getting some very positive feedback on the layout and "openness" of the space. Sitting at the reception "retaining wall", It's slightly entertaining to observe how customers walk in and respond to the change. We have noticed a consistency in the process.

1. Open door (usually attempting the left side first, which is always locked. Then, fumble around trying to open the right side.)
2. Walk in and immediately look up (It's probably all the amazing chandeliers that we have hanging from above.)
3. Look to the reception "retaining wall".

Now, one of two things happen at this point:

4a. Confidently walk straight up to the reception desk with no fear of the water moat that surrounds it.

4b. Look again at that "retaining wall", ask themselves, "Is that the reception desk," look to the right for any familiarity, look up again, and back to the "retaining wall".

After this happens, they are greeted warmly (...ehem) and another set of two probabilities occur.

5a. They will either say, "Whoa! What is this place?"

5b. Or, we'll get, "Wow! Look at this place? This is way more _______ than the other showroom you guys had." (Insert positive remark in blank.)


We've received some very interesting comments. So, we can't help but document each comment made. There are just too many to remember.

Here's the top pick of the week from a customer who shall remain anonymous:

You know, when you guys first moved, I wasn't sure about it. But, now this place is terrific! It's almost like a...weird, fantastic apartment...

Okay, so this might slightly resemble another company's motto. But, it works. So, we'll use it until we hear about it from them. And, if that day comes, we know we've grabbed the attention of a national electronics store through a simple Dailies blog...not that we need their attention. We're big enough as it is. We probably have their attention anyway without even trying, thanks to our fabulous product and customers. A slogan should be the least of their worries...

A Very Special Birthday Hello to Cathy, our WDM super-fabulous Sales Consultant.

In honor of her birthday, we are celebrating with 2 fantastic homemade Hello Kitty cakes.

Bordering on slight obsession, Cathy has a thing for Hello Kitty because it reminds her of her little dog, Lilly.

Too bad Lilly couldn't come to the office today. That would have been too much fun...at least for the women in the office.

As of Monday, Wiedamark now has a fully functioning bathroom for the benefit of friends, customers, and staff. As you walk right past Mark and Dante's workspace and in to the bathroom with a modern sink fixture and a fantastic fiber-optic rock wall, you have the peace of mind knowing that all that is being heard is the soft whirring of the bathroom vent.

Wiedagenius of the month: Brian Turnipseed!

Congratulations to the first wiedagenius of the month.

Brian has greatly improved our shipping and handling process with a genius idea of combined shipping labels and invoices which reduces materials, errors, and confusion!

In recognition of his improvement efforts to WDM, Brian will be receiving $25 to spend as he pleases...(I have a feeling he's going to use it to lift his truck again; although, I don't know how much can be lifted for $25...)

birthday and baby in one!

Today, a happy birthday to Dante (again, won't reveal his age...but, he too is seeing the light of the end of the 40's tunnel.)

And a very special congratulations too. On June 16th, baby Damarko, was born 16oz with brown eyes and light brown curly hair all over...yes, you read right. Curly hair all over, fully dressed in true Dante style (Hawaiian shirt half unbuttoned, army cargo shorts, and LED lights around his neck.)

If you call Wiedamark today to wish him a happy birthday or special congratulations, you may have to leave a message. Dante is not in the office this morning--new parents are easily exhausted.
Looks like the rest of us will have to enjoy the fudge cake for him...

As Wiedamark prepares to switch health policies, we met with a very nice gentleman named Mark who helped us what would work best for us. What started as a initial consultation regarding health needs and solutions ended with interest in fiber-optic clothing that Wiedamark carries.

So, we thought we'd bring this interest to the general public...

Can never find that perfect outfit in the closet? Needing a great Halloween costume? Looking forward to an event where you (literally) light up the room? What about showing up at a wedding and out-shining the bride...(Ok, maybe a little too far on that last one. Weddings on the mind...not mine, thank God.)

Last Wednesday, boss-man Mark Reed, celebrated his -- birthday ( I will not give away his age. It would be too cruel. If I may drop a hint, the "Fun at Fifty" scheme is not far behind...)

Thanks to some chocolate cake, Hormel party platters, and some lottery tickets the kids had some fun here at the Wiedamark showroom.

where is cathy?

Have you called Wiedamark this week? Have you wondered where she is? Have you wander why you can't get a hold of her or have to resort to having a message taken down? And who is this new chick named Sarah? Where did they pick her up and why are they allowing her to answer the phone...

So, where is Cathy? Well, Cathy is having herself a little educational "field trip". As of Wednesday, Cathy boarded a plane to Boston, the smartest city per capita, and is supposedly in a Color Kinetics training seminar to become an expert CK salesperson.

Honestly, I think she's just making it up.

After the bosses had to stay in town to take care of some political business (more details to follow in another blog), she decides to "go to Boston" anyway. She's clever--she even made up a seminar supplement and pre-training "quiz" with short description and essay questions. The over-achiever she is, she even filled out the answers claiming it stole 8 hours out of her weekend.

On top of all that, she had the audacity to bring her leopard-print luggage to work to flaunt in front of us all and made a big "to-do" about the stress over taking care of all her customers prior to her flight...ye-ah. A liar and a bragger.

No, but really. We know she's in Boston getting a great CK education. We wish the best of luck to Cathy in Boston and we know she will do great at the training seminar. In fact, we expect her to fly with LED colors...We hope she flies with "Wiedamarkable" colors...we hope...

Okay, I'll stop.

But best of wishes to Cathy, and we welcome her return to the office after the Memorial holiday...If she even comes back...
